2021 Mountain State Art and Craft Fair

On July 3rd, 2021, we made our way to Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley, WV, to see the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair. It was a nice, breezy day and the gentle pace of heritage crafting and music was a great way to spend the day before the July 4th cookouts, pool parties and fireworks.

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair began back in 1963 as a one-time event intended to provide a marketplace for the state’s talented artisans. A jury of experts select artisans who exhibit at the fair. Their products represent some form of traditional or contemporary Appalachian arts and crafts.

In addition to artists like blacksmith Brent Smith of 3 Arrows Forge & Woodshop and glassblower Todd Turner of Appalachian Glass, there were many wonderful crafts for kids including painting, kite making and whistle making! Clark and Ray had a blast making things and talking to the artisans about their creations and how they made them.

We left with a few new toys, some handmade crafts and great memories!
