Coonskin Elk River Trail

Spring is finally here and that means more outdoor adventures in West Virginia! Located right outside of Charleston, Coonskin Park is an easy get away for golf, picnics, playgrounds and trails. Since Ray has recently graduated from training wheels, I thought it would be a great time for an easy mountain bike ride on the park’s Elk River Trail. Along the way we found some old railroad tracks and car, a cool drainage area and a hollow tree.

The 2.2 mile out-and-back trail is an easy route. It takes about an hour on foot to complete. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and trail running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
