Mountaineer Media announces new storytelling series with WVU Tech

Tech also named official education partner for 2024 Almost Heaven Classic

BECKLEY — Mountaineer Media is excited to announce that WVU Tech is the official education partner for the 2024 Almost Heaven Classic, which is set in the heart of the New River Gorge region.

As part of this collaboration, Mountaineer Media will produce and host a three-part podcast series featuring interviews with WVU Tech faculty experts on a variety of subjects, including an episode with President T. Ramon Stuart.

“We are excited to be the official education partner of the Almost Heaven Classic,” Dr. T. Ramon Stuart, President of WVU Tech, said. “Mountaineer Media and WVU Tech believe in promoting West Virginia, quality learning opportunities and being a good community partner, especially in southern West Virginia. Several Golden Bears have benefitted from scholarships that have come from the proceeds of the Almost Heaven Scholarship Fund in the past, and we look forward to working with them to continue to promote community and education in our region.”

Founded in 1895 as the Montgomery Preparatory School, WVU Tech has a rich history of academic excellence. WVU Tech is located in Beckley, West Virginia.

WVU Tech serves more than 1,600 students representing more than 25 states and 30 countries and consists of two academic colleges: the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences.

Aside from the networking, our keynote panel at Adventures on the Gorge is set with Curtis Fleming, Jina Belcher, and Chris Fussell taking centerstage to discuss how outdoor recreation is playing a pivotal role in West Virginia’s economic turnaround.

Your Friday ticket includes entry to the professional networking session, panel discussion, food and drink, and live performance from Phil Bowen, who’s returning home to perform.

June 8th: Golf Tournament at Glade Springs Resort
Ready to hit the links?! On Saturday, we’ll make our way to The Resort at Glade Springs where 30 golf teams will compete for glory on the renowned Cobb Course.

The golf tournament at the renowned Cobb Course at Glade Springs Resort is sold out! However, the waitlist is still open if you’re interested in playing.

A portion of this year’s event revenue from the networking event and golf tournament once again supports the Almost Heaven Scholarship Fund, which helps send West Virginia students to college in the Mountain State.

In 2023, more than 200 people made their way to Canaan Valley for the inaugural celebration, which created a $150,000 economic impact on the region.
