Business boom on the horizon in West Virginia
West Virginia has been in the news a lot lately.
Usually when someone says that, it's for all the wrong reasons, but recently it's been all GOOD news for the Mountain State.
In the last nine months, there have been several major economic development announcements involving companies planting their roots in the fertile grounds of the Mountain State. Here are just a handful.
Nucor announced it's making a $2.7 billion investment to build a state-of-the-art steel mill in Mason County- the largest investment in West Virginia history.
GreenPower opened its doors to manufacture zero-emission, electric-powered school buses in Kanawha County.
Pure Watercraft revealed it is opening a location to build electric pontoon boats in Brooke County.
Berkshire Hathaway declared a $500 million plan to build titanium products for the aerospace industry powered by solar energy in Jackson County.
And Competitive Power Ventures said it has selected West Virginia for a natural gas power station that will utilize carbon capture and storage in Doddridge County.
In short, business is BOOMING in West Virginia, and companies have promised to pour billions of dollars into the state...yes, read that sentence again because it's something we've never heard before.
After a decade of struggling to find anyone to move to the Mountain State, we're starting to turn people away at the door- a good problem to have.
Hopefully, our state continues to build on this momentum.
