Our five biggest wins of 2023

Since our inception in 2020, Mountaineer Media has been fortunate to witness substantial growth among our followers, enabling us to host huge events, giveaways, and expand the podcast.

As always, kudos to you, kind reader and follower, because simply reading, liking, and sharing the content keeps us going and growing.

Here are our five biggest accomplishments this year:

1 — Hosting the Almost Heaven Classic in Canaan Valley

This one is a no-brainer—our inaugural gathering of Mountaineers could not have gone any better. More than 200 people attended the Friday Night networking panel, and another 150 joined Saturday's Golf Tournament.

Both events were hosted at the beautiful Canaan Valley Resort in Tucker County, providing a perfect setting for year one. Now, onto year two! The AHC is heading to the New River Gorge Region on June 7-8, and we hope you can make it.

2 — Hosting award-winning author Edward Ashton for 'Sip, Sign & Chat'

Edward Ashton's series, Mickey7, has seen a meteoric rise since its release in 2020, and now it's hitting the big screen in 2024. We hosted the Fairmont native for our first Sip, Sign & Chat at Taylor Books in Charleston, and we were blown away by the reception.

Nearly 30 people attended to hear his thoughts about the popular sci-fi series and how growing up in West Virginia shaped him into the author he is today. A very insightful discussion! We will continue hosting in-person events across the state just like this.

Edward also joined us on the podcast!

3 — Meeting and hanging out with Charles Wesley Godwin

Charles Wesley Godwin is quickly becoming one of country music’s biggest stars. He recently finished a tour with Zach Bryan and is joining Luke Combs next. We hosted Charles on the Mountaineer Media Podcast and received terrific feedback from listeners.

However, our connection didn't end there. We were fortunate to cover this year's Healing Appalachia in Lewisburg, where we caught Charles performing some of his classics, including "Cue Country Roads." After the show, we met him behind the set and asked a few questions about his rise and growth in music. An amazing memory!

4 — Partnering with New River ATV in NRG

We've hosted a handful of giveaways over the years, and certainly, our most adventurous was an experience with New River ATV in Fayetteville.

The small business takes people through the backroads of the nation's newest park, including a trip to the ghost town of Thurmond.

With over 100 miles of trails ranging from beginner to expert, the most experienced guides in the business, and top-of-the-line ATVs, New River ATV can give riders of all skill levels the challenge and adventure of a lifetime.

They also gave us a chance to experience the ride before we held the giveaway. Check out the recap video!

5 — Interviewing another round of incredible West Virginians

Finally, we continue to shine a light on the positive West Virginians who are doing great things in the state. This year, we hosted another amazing 32 guests, which you can find a full recap of here.

It's impossible to pick our favorites, but Cooper did take a crack at listing some of the more profound conversations we had this year.

As always, thanks for following! What are your favorite memories from this year? Good or bad, share them with us!
