2024's First Six Months: Interesting Things to Check Out

Sticking with my pilot theme here, I was on a flight recently and took the opportunity to organize a list of events in West Virginia that I found interesting. I stopped at June 2024, partly because I ran out of time and partly because the dates and locations of 2nd half of the year events were not finalized. Stay tuned later in the New Year for my 2nd list.

The West Virginia Hunting & Fishing Show is a 3-day regional consumer show organized by the West Virginia Trophy Hunters Association. This annual show is the perfect opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their products and services to a large and diverse audience. With attendees from all over the region, the show is an ideal platform to promote your business and gain recognition in the Hunting and Fishing industry.

Cross Country Ski Weekend - Canaan Valley WV. Plan to spend the weekend skiing at the White Grass Nordic Center in the Canaan Valley, WV . Canaan Valley has some of the best snow for cross-country in the Mid-Atlantic area, and White Grass the most extensive network of trails for all levels and services for skiers.

Focus Forward: Preparing Today for the West Virginia of Tomorrow is an annual event uniquely designed to link education and economic development. Hundreds of decision makers along with state and national experts come together to address emerging workforce needs. The event series is hosted by the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.

The West Virginia Trail Fest is an opportunity for runners of all ages and skill levels to come together and enjoy the wild, tough, and fun adventures the hills and trails Pocahontas County has to offer. The fest is 4 races: 5k, 30k, 60k and 100k. All of the races will finish at the beautiful Snowshoe Resort.

The Almost Heaven Classic, an electrifying opportunity for Mountaineers to connect, learn, and grow! A premium networking event coupled with a live panel discussion, ending with a private concert overlooking the New River Gorge Bridge. On Saturday, 30 golf teams will compete for glory on the Cobb course at The Resort at Glade Springs.
