Chasing a Dream: Mountaineer Media and Centurion Wealth sponsor Nick Montes as he pursues professional golf
We all have childhood dreams of what our future will hold. Many of us grow out of wanting to become an astronaut or rethink being a firefighter.
However, fewer of us fully commit to making that dream our reality.
For Nick Montes, becoming a professional golfer is something he has chased his entire life and is now laser-focused on accomplishing.
As COVID-19 lockdowns grinded collegiate competition to a halt, Montes was almost ready to give up that dream. But then, he found a new spark.
“I got another year of school and went to Stetson University and rediscovered my dream and passion to chase it…so here I am," he said.
And Montes’ West Virginia roots have also taught him an important lesson; relationships matter.
“Golf has been a vehicle to creating connections that will last me a lifetime," he said. "I have met businesspeople and entrepreneurs that will help me down the line if golf doesn’t work out."
As Montes hits the road and attempts to qualify for mini-tour events, with the goal of landing on the PGA TOUR, he picked up two sponsorships to back his journey.
